I have a truth for you. Success is about people.
It doesn’t matter how good you are at what you do.
or how hard did you study.
or how hard do you work.
At the end of the day, success, REAL SUCCESS, depends on people.
All of us know someone who is great at their job.
But they are frustrated, because they know they are not achieving what they are capable of.
The symptoms are different, it could be not getting that job interview, that role, that customer, that promotion…
But the result is the same, frustration.
Think about this.
The best product is irrelevant if people don’t use it, and people won’t use it if they don’t like it or understand it….
But there are plenty of extremely successful products that people love, even if they are not that good at all.
The best idea will rot and won’t get any support if you cannot excite people about it…
But plenty of decent ideas land if people support them.
The best group of people will produce shit if they don’t work well together…
But competent people can outperform rock stars if they work as one.
And the most talented person won’t achieve too much if they don’t master how to navigate people. Period.
Now, think about the other person that also everyone knows. The person that despite not being that good, they manage to get a fantastic job, a promotion or that project they wanted to lead.
They might not be the best. But they have a lot of other skills that help them navigate their life much better, even if they aren’t that strong in the “technical” aspect.
So this is why I talk about people. So you can learn about how to navigate more situations better.
Every day I write an email with a tip. It can be about how to communicate better, about how to influence, about sales, creativity, technology, leadership…
